3. For what purpose do we process your data on these web pages and on what legal basis?

BECEPTUM collects and uses personal data for the provision of the websites as well as our content and services within the framework of the provisions of Art. 6 (1) a to f DSGVO, i.e. insofar as the DSGVO or another legal provision permits this or the user has consented to the processing. Legally standardised data protection contracts are agreed with all service providers that we use on our websites as order processors in accordance with Art. 28 EU DSGVO and the service providers are subjected to an appropriate IT security assessment in advance.

In addition, BECEPTUM processes personal data when visiting this website as follows:

a) Log files

Whenever our websites are accessed, so-called log files are automatically stored on the basis of our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1f) EU DSGVO, which contain information about the computer accessing our websites, e.g. information about the browser type, the operating system used, the Internet service provider, the IP address, date and time of access.

Storage of this data is necessary in order to make our websites available to users for the duration of the session. We also use this data to optimise our websites and to ensure the security of our IT systems. The data from the log files are deleted as soon as they are no longer required for the aforementioned purposes.

b) Newsletter, mailings, downloads

On the BECEPTUM websites, we provide a wide range of newsletters, mailings and downloads on the basis of the user's consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1a EU DSGVO, possibly in conjunction with § 7 para. 2 no. 3 UWG. We may also send certain information to data subjects by e-mail on the basis of a legal permission according to § 7 para. 3.

In order to register for topic-related newsletters and mailings and to download certain documents (e.g. studies) from BECEPTUM, you must provide your name and e-mail address. With the registration or the download, BECEPTUM is also given the consent to record future visits of a user to our websites on a personal basis in order to be able to send the user targeted and personally tailored topic-related information (e.g. current studies, surveys). For this purpose, we use a cookie from our service provider HubSpot to record the individual BECEPTUM websites and topics that a registered user views during his or her visits (see also section 3f (8) below).

After registering for newsletters, mailings or downloads on the BECEPTUM websites, each user receives a confirmation e-mail at the e-mail address provided (so-called double opt-in procedure). Only after clicking on the link contained in this e-mail is the registration completed.

Once given consent to receive newsletters, mailings or downloads can be revoked at any time via a link at the end of each e-mail or by sending a message to the BECEPTUM mailbox info@beceptum.com.

Registrations for newsletters, mailings or downloads are logged on the basis of our legitimate interest in being able to prove the registration and consent of a user at any time (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f EU DSGVO).

If you have not used our offers in any form for a year, you will be considered not interested and will be automatically deleted from HubSpot.

c) Contact form

To request further information, we provide contact forms at various points on our websites that you can use to contact us directly. We process the personal data entered here (e.g. name, email address) within the framework of the legal provisions for processing the request in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1b or Art. 6 para. 1f EU DSGVO.

d) Cookies

BECEPTUM uses so-called cookies for the purposes listed below. A cookie is a text file that is sent to the browser by the web server and processes information about the website visitor (e.g. IP address), their settings and the devices used.

We use:

Essential cookies

These cookies are essential to ensure that the user can navigate and use certain features of the website. Without them, essential parts of the website cannot be used. Accordingly, these cookies are always enabled. They are only used when you visit our website and are usually deleted after you close your browser. In addition, they are used to retrieve the optimised website display when accessed with a mobile device so that, for example, your data volume is not unnecessarily consumed. Cookies also make it easier to switch pages from http to https, so that the security of the transmitted data remains guaranteed.

Functional cookies

Functional cookies enable the website to store information provided, such as the user name or language selection, and to offer the user improved and personalised functions based on this information. The information collected is only evaluated in aggregated form.

As we would like to offer you a website that is designed for optimal user-friendliness, we recommend activating these cookies. Functional cookies are also used, for example, to activate functions you have requested, such as the playback of videos.

Performance cookies

These cookies collect data about user behaviour. On this basis, the website is adapted to general user behaviour in terms of content and functionality. The information collected is generally processed in aggregated form, unless a user has expressly consented to a personal evaluation separately. Performance cookies are only used to improve the performance of the website and to tailor the online experience to the needs of the user.

Marketing cookies

Marketing cookies are used to provide more targeted content that is relevant to the user and tailored to their interests. They are also used to measure and control the effectiveness of campaigns. For example, they record whether a website has been visited or not, as well as which content has been used. This information is used to create an interest profile so that only content of interest to you is displayed. If you withdraw your consent to marketing cookies, this does not mean that you will see and receive less content as a result. Rather, it means that the content you see and receive is not tailored to your individual needs.

Social media cookies

Social media cookies are used to provide more targeted content that is relevant to the user and tailored to their interests. They are also used to measure and control the effectiveness of campaigns. They register, for example, whether a website has been visited or not, as well as which content has been used. This information is used to create an interest profile so that only content of interest to you is displayed. If you withdraw your consent to social media cookies, this does not mean that you will see and receive less content as a result. BECEPTUM can use this data to display targeted advertising outside its website without identifying you as a website visitor.

The legal basis for data processing through cookies is Art. 6 para. 1a, f DSGVO, i.e. the consent of the website visitor or a legitimate interest of BECEPTUM. A legitimate interest for BECEPTUM to use cookies according to Art. 6 para. 1f DSGVO exists in particular in the case of the use of absolutely necessary cookies (see above).

Further detailed information on the cookies used by BECEPTUM can be found in the BECEPTUM cookie settings, where the selected cookie configuration can also be adjusted by the user at any time.

Note: If you consent to a category, the cookies are activated immediately or when the website is reloaded. If you revoke your consent to a category, the cookies set will remain active until the end of their term. To ensure that these cookies are blocked immediately, you must delete them manually via your browser settings after revoking your consent.

e) Tracking and analysis tools

BECEPTUM uses tracking and analysis tools from third-party providers on these websites. These use so-called performance cookies, the use of which can be adjusted via the setting options of the respective third-party providers explained below or also in the BECEPTUM cookie settings. The settings can be adjusted on each page in relation to the domain.

BECEPTUM uses HubSpot, a service of HubSpot Inc. for analysis purposes on its websites.

This involves the use of so-called "web beacons" and also the setting of "cookies", which are stored on your computer and enable an analysis of your use of the website by us. HubSpot evaluates the information collected (e.g. IP address, geographical location, type of browser, duration of visit and pages viewed) on behalf of BECEPTUM in order to generate reports about the visit and the pages visited by BECEPTUM.

If, as described in section 3b), users subscribe to BECEPTUM email news and obtain studies and other documents, HubSpot can also link a user's visits to BECEPTUM websites with personal details (especially name/email address) on the basis of consent given, thus recording them on a personal basis and informing users individually and in a targeted manner about preferred subject areas.

If collection by HubSpot is generally not desired, the storage of cookies can be prevented at any time through appropriate browser settings (see above under point 3e).

Further information on how HubSpot works can be found in the privacy policy of HubSpot Inc., available at: http://legal.hubspot.com/de/privacy-policy.

4 How long is data stored?

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, BECEPTUM stores personal data for as long as necessary to carry out the purposes listed above. This is subject to statutory retention obligations. BECEPTUM employees are instructed to regularly review the duration of the storage of personal data and to delete it if necessary.

5. What data protection rights do data subjects have?

Data subjects are entitled to information rights in accordance with Art. 15 EU GDPR about the processing of their personal data by BECEPTUM (including about the purpose of the processing, any recipients and the expected duration of the storage), rights to rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 EU GDPR), deletion (Art. 17 EU GDPR), restriction of processing and data portability of the data provided (Art. 18, 20 EU GDPR) as well as the right to object to use for marketing purposes and on the basis of processing based on a legitimate interest of BECEPTUM (Art. 21 EU GDPR).

Consent once given can in principle be revoked vis-à-vis BECEPTUM at any time with effect for the future. In order to protect these rights, every data subject can contact the BECEPTUM data protection officer (see point 2). In addition, there is also a right of appeal to a data protection supervisory authority. Data subjects can address their complaint to the authority of their place of residence, but in principle also to any other data protection supervisory authority.
